Here’s a look at James Franco’s new boyhood and adolescent sexuality-focused exhibit (and first solo art show) at New York City’s Clocktower Gallery. The Dangerous Book Four Boys includes a video in which he wears a penis on his nose and some assemblages which call to mind the show Hoarders.
Performers crave the EGOT, shorthand for winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. Rita Moreno has done so for instance. I propose the Franco, a fifth award for wearing a penis on your nose in service of art. Rita Moreno, who starred in the male prison drama Oz, could easily be awarded a retroactive Franco.
Penises have meaning beyond the obvious. I dig his work.
